Poll Results & Bug Fix!

11/05/2025 11:12 am

Hello everyone and welcome to a mid-week update! We saved this update since it's quite boring and a bit more of a โ€œcleaning upโ€ kind of update. Today we have news about our recent community poll and some changes to auctions.

๐Ÿ“ Community Poll Results

Our community poll results are in! We asked you to vote on updating all the old art to generics or not. The results of the poll show 96 of you voted with 57.3% voting to update all the horse art to our new style using generic bases. This means all breeds in-game that donโ€™t have their own stand-alone art will keep a generic base until their art is updated.

However, we were asked if we would consider this suggestion and add these changes should all the art be updated to the new style. Of which, we are happy to oblige. As an exciting bit of an art sneak peek letโ€™s take a look at our generic draft base with these fancy bolder base colors.

With the updated colors, we will be re-working our currently in progress bases. This means we are pushed back a bit with releases with a new goal to have all the campaign breeds done by mid-January and currently done pures done by the end of January. Thunderbolt will be working on our generic horse bases which means the switch to those will occur once those are ready to release. The date we change over to all of the new art style is TBD. We are working to both release new base colors, release updated tack, and release the full back log of all our bases. Whew. Lots to do!

๐ŸฆŸ Auction Changes

Apparently during the life-time of our auctions there has been a major bug that allowed folks to magically make ingots and money appear. Thankfully, we were alerted to this but have found that the auction bug had previously been seriously abused. Due to our logging system, most of the bug abuse can not be traced back and we are having to check questionable accounts manually. Sadly, several players who abused the bug have been able to have ingots in-game without spending any RL money which has cost the game a very pretty penny and put many ingots on the market that should not be. A huge thank you to those who reported this bug to us and were honest when you realized what had happened. To those who abused the error, you will only be able to see this news from afar as your accounts have been banned.

Now on to the changes. Due to the nature of the bug and after getting input from our staff, we have removed the option to delete your auction bids. This means when you bid on an auction you can no longer remove that bid. Auctions now function like: you place a bid, a pop up asks you to confirm you want to make a bid, you confirm and your bid is placed and bid amount removed from your total.

The Mustang redo sketch was revealed back in early July. One breed a month is a wildly unreasonable timeline, even for a game with a big art team. I'm also not sure how a Marwari looking like a Knabstrupper is less jarring than art being different.

From reading the comments I just want to explain the side of people who dislike the poll decision a little more.

Like Wireless said we will probably at *best* be seeing 1 breed a month (not thinking about how not all the generic bases and foals are even done or really even incomplete campaign breeds that may be completed). And as they said that would probably take over 3 years. I never had an issue with the fact we had different styles of art (I will so honest I can't even tell the difference between old-old and old art unless someone tells me what is and isn't old-old art). I like this game because we have a ton of breeds with vastly different (in most cases) appearances so it gives incentives for wanting to have a wide range of breeds (I don't focus on one breed, I have around 20 breeds) and so you can tell straight away the breed of a horse (assuming you know what all the breeds look like). Generic bases have literally been a massive reason I have left a game, and if I was a new player I wouldn't even think to check the forums for a possible reason. But even though I do know the reason, it is still annoying that for atleast the next 3 years almost all the horses will look pretty much the exact same.

I can't remember who has mentioned this but a large portion of the game doesn't use tack, me being one of them, so I come for this game for the individual horses not a generic base that oh look atleast I can put tack on and cut it's mane (I am too poor to be affording ingot customisation aswell).

Like others have said I will probably be freezing atleast all the generic horses but more likely I will just freeze my whole account and wait for atleast most of my horses to updated.

Exactly this. The new breed art wont be that vastly different from the old breed art but it will be from the generic art. And as Mouse said its gonna be YEARS before breeds look right again. That's not jarring to anyone? It makes much more sense to have mix matched art that is correct, then have generic for many many years.

Yay for tack and mane cutting I guess? They are cool features but not priority IMO.

The vote was fair sure, but its not like one side lost massively. Its almost half of the player base that is losing out here, which can very well hurt them, especially if those players aren't paying.

Its not to threaten them because we are mad we didn't get our way but why would players want to buy ingots and have subscriptions to a game they aren't currently interested in playing. Money is tight for me but I put my subscription back because I love this game and have been with it since the early Eq days but I have to be realistic to think is it worth paying for a game when I get to the point of having no interest in playing? I breed 20+ breeds too. Their individuality is the point, and I don't want to wait years for them to look like they are suppose to, because while some of you think the different art is jarring, the new to old art is not that different, especially with them adjusting colors and markings like we asked, but from every light, pony, stock and draft going from exactly the same to vastly different poses and bodies, that's just something I can't ignore. You went from a little change to massive change. And I worry how this might effect the game with almost half their players who voted potentially on the verge of stopping playing.

I'm just saying for a visual aspect:

While color and markings did need adjusted and was addressed there really is not that much difference in the old vs new art

vs taking this

Or this

And turning it into this
