Cooldown Change, Foal Attendant & More!
Happy update day everyone!! Today's update includes a few big changes, some long requested features and plenty of bug fixes!
๐ฅถ Breeding Cooldown Change
It was brought to our attention that this bug and the current breeding cooldown system was actually an exploitable bug/feature. Upon checking, we found a couple of players had been exploiting the bug using freeze/thawing to allow their horses to breed many more times during their life than should be possible.
We have updated the breeding cooldown to a rollover fix vs. hourly fix. Now, horses have a set number of rollovers they must complete, while unfrozen, before breeding again. The number of rollovers needed is displayed on the horse's profile. NOTE: This change also affects breeding clinic retrievals. These now require 1 rollover (at 12pm game time) to reset. This means depending what time of day you do the lab retrievals you will have to wait anywhere from 24 to 1 hour to pull more. Plan accordingly!
Additionally, we are continuing to investigate those who exploited this bug and will be working on a solution to ensure those horses and players who benefited from the exploit are properly dealt with. Thank you to those who brought this to our attention and have helped myself and the dev in understanding how it has occurred and the best way to fix the issue.
๐ถ NEW: Foal Attendant!
Per frequent request, we now have a Foal Attendant Voucher. This voucher is an account boost item that lasts for 24 hours and auto foal trains any cared for foal you own. Foals must be boarded and cared for for the attendant to begin or restart foal training. It can be bought in the General Store > Player. Additionally, with this change we thought we might add a slight QoL change! All foals are now born with 100% health.
โจ Item Boost Freeze!
Today we release a long awaited change to player boost items. Starting today, you have the option to pause currently equipped player boost items for up to 12 hours at a time. There is also an option to resume the boost as well. This can be done from the โBoostsโ tab on your profile page.
๐ Design Lab Re-Do
Previously, the code for the design lab and generation for horse pages were two separate sets of code. Now, this is one code section and generates in the lab and horse pages the same! This should fix issues with color names, layering, etc.! Additionally, horses now have their shadow displayed so no more floating in space!
๐๏ธ Land Expansions & Deletions
We found a bug that allowed players to delete lower acreage estate upgrades which caused many, many issues. Now, you must delete your land upgrades in order of size and have enough empty acres prior to doing so.
Additionally, the Estate Manage page now stacks your expansions and allows for you to delete multiple at once.
๐ Character Limits
We fixed a bug which allowed folks to have forever long marketplace descriptions and titles. Now this has been limited. We also:
- Added 25 character limit to breadcrumb menus
- Wrap text on titles for market trades, forums, mailbox, and for horses on the stable page, transport, herd management, mass actions, retired horses, sales pen, breeding grounds (all tabs), career center, boarding center, and training center
- Long usernames now display only the first 50 characters in their profile and forums.
๐ฆ Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue with 4 vs 5 careers jobs a day. Multi-clicking caused horses to use more energy!
- Custom BGs now display after image refresh. Image requests were being blocked by Imgur but are now stored differently.
- Added in fix and logging to ordering tabs.
- Layered dun under dapples.
- Fixed problem with dun/skewed dun not displaying in some horse color names.
- Updated explore events to disappear once no longer needed.
- Added optimizations to crafting hundreds of items so they no longer fail.
- Custom BG image size updated to 950 x 550.
- Fixed issue with leopard variant for Lp Appaloosas var. 6. These are being updated now.
- Having 2 background overlays now displays on the page properly.
- Fixed design lab for base + D naming issue.
- Tovero + sabino in the design lab now works properly.
- Fixed odd issue with a couple horses able to enter 2x shows on random days.
- Fixed polos displaying for breeds with lots of feathering.
- Auctions: Fixed bug that allowed already auctioned horses to auction again. If you lost bits or ingots on this please let Curly know via message with auction links.
- Mane and tail variations now pull properly. If there is a layer for the mane or tail variation, it now displays.
A big thank you to everyone for being patient and giving feedback as we need it! HoFa development is coming along wonderfully and it's all thanks to our amazing player base and staff! Have a great weekend everyone!
Cheers,
The HoFa Team

Fantastic updates, thank you!

Question about the freeze breeding bug issue: Were players using public studs & broods to exploit? I've got several public standing horses who are bred by other players sometimes with their progeny being mostly or entirely other people's foals. Now my horses always go on the appropriate cooldown but I never thought to check if horses they were bred to did, this makes me concerned it could have happened. Would I or other players with public studs/broods need to do anything to check if they were used in the exploit?
The issue didn't affect public studs or broods. However, if players used their own private stud/broods with their side accounts and freeze/thawed those will be looked into.
Thank you for answering! I'm glad it doesn't affect those with public standing horses and I hope it's not going to be too much trouble for the staff to uncover who exploited this bug.
My Appalachian Mountain Horses still float in space with their hind legs. Do I have to reset this somehow?
I'm a new player and don't know.
