Hi, I’ve been working on campaign breeds since I started on HF a year or so ago. It was definitely a lot of learning but also a lot of fun!

Here are things that some people don’t know about campaign breeds:

1. Foals that aren’t fully trained will not show up in the list for assigning horses to a specific generation.

2. Foals that do not have the exact breed percentage will not be able to be registered as the breed in the campaign. For example, if you have a Frisian x Mustang x Anglo Arabian crossbreed, you need to have a foal that is ⅓ Friesian, ⅓ Mustang and ⅓ Anglo Arabian, with the Arabian and Thoroughbred parts of the Anglo Arabian equaling that last ⅓. 

3. There are three generations of horses needed to finish the campaign and each has very specific qualities needed. The best way I know to increase the quality of the breeds I’m working on is to train the stallion and mare to high levels. The higher the level, the better foal you’ll get. That’s across the board for horses on HF but it’s necessary for campaign breeds to develop.

4. Always ask for help if you’re not sure what to do! If a horse won’t register, message the president or founder of the club for help.

5. If you no longer want campaigns breed horses, especially early in the campaign, reach out to the person you bought them from. Some breeds take a really long time to get to the point where they are ready, so they will probably appreciate the fact that you asked.
