Hi, I’ve been working on campaign breeds since I started on HF a year or so ago. It was definitely a lot of learning but also a lot of fun!
Here are things that some people don’t know about campaign breeds:
1. Foals that aren’t fully trained will not show up in the list for assigning horses to a specific generation.
2. Foals that do not have the exact breed percentage will not be able to be registered as the breed in the campaign. For example, if you have a Frisian x Mustang x Anglo Arabian crossbreed, you need to have a foal that is ⅓ Friesian, ⅓ Mustang and ⅓ Anglo Arabian, with the Arabian and Thoroughbred parts of the Anglo Arabian equaling that last ⅓.
3. There are three generations of horses needed to finish the campaign and each has very specific qualities needed. The best way I know to increase the quality of the breeds I’m working on is to train the stallion and mare to high levels. The higher the level, the better foal you’ll get. That’s across the board for horses on HF but it’s necessary for campaign breeds to develop.
4. Always ask for help if you’re not sure what to do! If a horse won’t register, message the president or founder of the club for help.
5. If you no longer want campaigns breed horses, especially early in the campaign, reach out to the person you bought them from. Some breeds take a really long time to get to the point where they are ready, so they will probably appreciate the fact that you asked.

Campaigns can take a long time. It's not a short commitment, especially if there is one person that's mainly spearheading the campaign. Higher generation horses sometimes produce horses that can't make it into the next generation, but that doesn't mean the foal is useless, they still have the opportunity to be entered in a generation as long as the TB, PS, and stars are correct for that generation. TB and stars are fixed at birth, (only way to increase a foal's TB is to complete foal training) and PS can increase with each training you do, so always make sure the stars and TB are correct for the generation you want. Overall, have fun with the campaign, it's meant to be a challenge as well as something fun. Another piece of advice is to have a side project going while working on a campaign, there will be a lot of time that you'll be waiting for horse's to age or level up before you can breed them. So, I felt having something fun going while working on my campaign allowed me to stay engaged with the game.
When I first started I didn't understand that the Generations aren't necessarily tied to the breeding generations - for instance, you may be on the literal/breeding Gen 4 before you get a 5 star foal that meets the PS/TB criteria to qualify for the campaign's G2. That part was confusing to me at first.
There are two parts to registering your horse in the campaign - first part is the correct % and registering in the Club. Then once they are trained, you go to the Campaign tab to enter into the campaign itself and see what Generation they qualify under.
Ideally you want the parents to be leveled up and higher PS so your foal instantly qualifies for the generations once they are trained. TB is based on levels so that can't improve once they are trained, but the PS can improve with the weekly training. (So if you were only short for the PS criteria, check back once they've been trained a bit and you may be able to enter them into the campaign then.)
Have fun! Campaigns are interesting and challenging, but mostly you should enjoy them! 💜🦄
