Tack Changes, Variations & Jeopardy!
Hello everyone and happy update day! Today we talk about tack, clarify issues with marking variants, and announce our next community event!
✨ Tack Changes & Emporium Extended!
Per requests and confusion we have updated all items in-game to have more descriptions to them about bonuses and more clarification for other items. We’ve also decided to boost some bonuses as well!
Now, wording is standardized for:
- “Minimal” - 0.25% boost
- “Teeny” - 0.5 to 1% boost
- “Small” - 1.5 to 2.5% boost
- “Generous” - 5 to 10% boost
Notes:
- All seasonal ingot tack sets add up to 5% twin boost bonuses. Seasonal harnesses have a 5% bonus as well.
- Some tack items specify their boost %.
- All tack has been updated to show if it has a show or twin boost in its description.
Additionally we have added better perks to several items!
- Companions - All except April Fools companions offer a 5% twin boost.
- Backgrounds - Ingot backgrounds now all offer 5% twin boost.
- Background Overlays - A few overlays have teeny twin boosts now.
- Flowers - Now all mane flowers offer a teeny twin boost.
- Witch Hats - Now offer a minimal show boost.
- Skeleton Paint & Unicorn Horns - Now offer a small twin boost. Rainbow versions offer more!
- Winter Items - Various winter items have had boosts added and upped.
- German Hats - Now offer a minimal show boost.
Our items went missing from the emporium too early! We’ve put them back on the shelf until August 9 at midnight EST/game time! As a reminder we have retiring items. Retiring items are:
- German Harnesses: Fairytale and German
- German Hats

These items will officially retire August 9th at 11:59 pm ET/game time.
🐴 Variation Clarifications & Update
We had many, many questions about variations and also ran into some bugs so here's a quick FAQ for those!
Q: In KIT genes, what variant takes priority?
A: KIT genes have variant genes tied to KIT1 and KIT2 which allows for white markings to display in many more combos than if we had only a single variant gene tied to KIT. Thus, a horse with Sa1To and KIT1 Variation 3 and Kit 2 Variation 5 will show sabino 3 and tobiano 5. However, for those homozygous for the same gene (Sa1Sa1) the code will default to KIT1’s variant.
Q: What variants show in the variant gene test?
A: In pure breeds, all the possible purebred genes and their variants show in the variant gene test even if the horse does not have the color gene currently.
Q: What about crossbreeds and their variants?
A: These work like purebred horses as well. If the horse's parent breeds have a gene, then the horse will list any variants regardless of if the color gene is present or not.
Q: What about grade breeds and their variants?
A: Grade horses will show variants on the variant list if the horse has the gene present. Ex. A Grade Clydesdale will only show a leopard variant designator if the horse has Lp.
Q: What's dapple 3-6?
A: That's a bug! All dapple 3-6 horses are now dapple 1.
Q: How do I breed variants?
A: You need horses with marking variants to breed variants. Each parent has a chance to pass their variation(s) on to their foals. Additionally, there is a small chance you will get a different non-parent variation.

🦟 Bug Fixes

Have a wonderful week everyone!
Cheers,

Quick question.
Going through the emporium, is it an error that some Western/English options have different bonuses? For example, Rainbow Pads. In western it says, “teeny show boost,” but English just has rainbow coloured pad.

I know a lot of the community, and Cali, really brought attention to the boost % descriptions, so to everyone who did that thank you so much! It has confused a lot of people for a long time. Also thank you Curly and Devs for giving flowers a boost! I will actually be more inclined to pick them up and use them now. Now it looks like I have some campaigns I need to go get into gear for, they have been on my wait list, but not anymore.

When you mention show boost, do you mean discipline or halter shows?
And i’m so happy for all those changes!!!!

i'm happy to see the boost standardization happening, i know Cali was really pushing for it to happen. 💚 and the variant explanation is very appreciated!
@Whiteclaww: that's another term on the site that needs standardizing, “Show” tends to refer to Discipline Shows while “Halter” means Halter Shows, it would be more clear if they specified Discipline/Halter Show.
