๐ŸŽจThe V2 Art Change๐ŸŽจ

On July 8th the shift to all V2 art took place (Check out the v2 Art is Live! News post here).   This was a decision that has been in the works for the past couple months, but was more recently switched over to.   So what does this mean, what do you need to know, and what do you do if you see any bugs?

I am including these additional news posts made after the V2 shift because they pertain to other recent art / layer updates + changes
โ†’ ADDITIONAL NEWS POST MADE ON 7 / 23 / 2026 (New Image System - Variation Testing / Multiple Markings)
โ†’ ADDITIONAL NEWS POST MADE ON 8 / 03 / 2026 (Variation Clarifications & Update)

๐ŸŽWhat the V2 Art Change Did๐ŸŽ

  • Any breeds on HoFa that were V1 art (not updated art) moved to the V2 Generic Base that fits their breed.  But Rose how do I know what generic xyz breed turned into?    Thankfully the wiki is a great source!   You can check out the [Wiki Breeds Lists] to find out what breeds are under what body types.  For example Brumby is a pony, so it uses the Generic Pony art while Friesian is a Light Draft body type, so it uses the Generic Light Draft art.

๐ŸŽWhat do you need to know / Helpful Information๐ŸŽ

  • The [HoFa Horse Art Notion Page] is a great resource for those wanting to stay in the loop for V2 art progress.  When viewing the notion you will see a table of data.  Going left to right the columns are:  Breed, Type, Status, and Projected Release.   The breed column tells you the breed for that row, type tells you whether or not it was a campaign breed, status tells you what stage of art it is in, and projected release either tells you when the breed was released (if status is live) or when it plans to be added (if not live).   The only column in this that is a lil less reliable is the Projected Release as it tends to not get updated as often as the others.
  • What are the different Status types on notion?    Live (in the game), Ready (Ready to added, not in game yet), Adjusting Tack (Tack + Decor is being fitted to the art), Coloring (Pattern layers, base coats, etc are being worked on), and Sketching (Sketches and greyscales are being made / worked on).    These are updated a lot more often than the release column, but still sometimes may take a couple days to get updated.
  • Why do polos work on some on my generics and not others?  Breeds like Friesians and Welsh D normally have feathering on their lower legs, but their generic body type art doesn't.    While the generic does not have feathers, these breeds are already coded to not allow polos to be equipped, so while they are sporting the new light draft generic, that doesn't override the breed code for no polos.

๐ŸŽWhat breeds have V2 art already๐ŸŽ

  • Purebreds with V2 art: Thoroughbred, Welsh C, Clydesdale, Arabian, Chincoteague, Irish Cob, Lusitano, American Paint, Mustang
  • Crossbreeds / Campaigns with V2 art:  Appalachian Mountain Horse, Walkaloosa, Brumbian, National Show Horse, Pintaloosa, Cobblestan, Cobian, Elvish War Horse, Cob Walker
  • All generic models (Draft, Light Draft, Light, Stock, Pony) are V2 art.   This includes foal art as all foals of a body type share the same generic art.

๐ŸŽWhat breeds are in progress for V2 art already?๐ŸŽ

  • Purebreds: Appaloosa, Akhal Teke, Irish Draught, Norwegian Fjord, Hanoverian, Marwari, New Breed #2
  • Crossbreeds / Campaigns:  Staverden, Brindabella, Ashgabat, Celtic Cob
  • Any purebreds, game recognized crossbreeds, or completed campaigns not listed do not currently have art in progress.   But make sure to keep your eyes out in forums like News, Office, Premium Corner, and Campaign forums for updates like community feedback for art, community references, voting, etc.  For access to the Premium Corner users must either be Bronze, Gold, or Platinum subscribers to the game.   Bronze can be purchased with ingots or real money.

๐ŸŽWhere do I report bugs for art (or bugs in general)๐ŸŽ

All bugs can be reported to the [Bug Box] this way staff and devs can be made aware of the bugs so they can be fixed as soon as possible.   Duplicated bug reports will be merged together, but it is recommended to see if your bug has already been reported before making a new post.   Some bugs can be grouped together, for example if multiple tack layers are broken for Light Generics you could say something like โ€œBroken Saddle Pads for light generic: purple english, blue englishโ€ etc.   But please don't report broken tack in the same report as say broken mane and tails.

๐ŸŒนRose I need additional Help / Could you add something to this post?๐ŸŒน

  • Feel free to ask questions in regards to things on this post in the comments, not only will I be looking out to try and help, but I will let other helpers and the team know as well so they can also pop in to check.   Not only that, but there are a lot of cool community members who will try to help too where they can.  Another great help resource is the Official Discord Server for HoFa if you have a discord account.   In the discord we have a โ€œHelpโ€ channel dedicated to helping players with any game questions they may have.
  • Rose your lists are becoming outdated or some more info should be added!   You are welcome to post in the comments, reach out to me in game, or ping me in the discord server to let me know if I need to update breeds listed (like campaigns unlocking art threads for official art), or add additional help information.

I know this is a long post with a lot to it, but hopefully this helps those who needs it!    A similar post can also be found pinned in the Help channel of the official discord server.

I preferred the original art. My mustangs now look like sport horses and this one looks like either the horse or graphic took some serious damage. The markings are so unrealistic. https://horsefable.com/horse/2073233

@ebitan totally get it and how it can be jarring to see a change. Mustang art is in the pipeline and projected to be released soon, so this is just the generic base for now!

Recent Updates

  • Added links to Variaiton related news posts as they also pertain to recent art changes and so that they are easier to find
  • Not adding variation information to this post at this time but in case someone needs a lil bit of help:
    • Variations DO NOT mean your horse carries the related gene.   Variations are modifiers for IF your horse has the related gene.  What do they modify?   They modify how the gene is displayed / what version you see.
      • Example a horse with Dapple Variation 1 IF THEY ARE DAPPLED will be regular dapples, but if a dappled horse had Dapple Variation 2 they would be reverse dappled instead.
    • Variations, like actual genes, can be passed down to offspring.
      • Example you can have a non dapple carrier with dapple variation 2.  When bred with a dappled horse the foal will be a dapple carrier with the chance to also get dapple variation 2.   If it does it could later be paired with dappled horses or other dapple carriers for the chance to get a reverse dappled foal.
