Celebrating Pride Month with a super fun breed and surprise categoriesโ€ฆ.

Your June Breed of the Month is Knabstruppers! Have fun pulling foundies!

ABOUT

The Knabstrupper horse is an old and rare breed, originally developed in Denmark the horses come from the same original stock as the Spanish horses that gave rise to the Appaloosa. The Knabstrupper and the Appaloosa share the same unusual color patterns, they are the spotted horses. The color variations range from the whole body spots of the classical Leopard pattern (sometimes called Tiger pattern), in bay, black and chestnut to the blanket spotting and to varnish roan and snowflake patterns.

While their unusual color patterns make them eyecatching and different to look at, what makes the Knabstrupper really special is their superb temperaments and willing kind natures. Bred as working horse and selected as much for attitude and ability as beauty the Knabstrupper is a true family horse.

Ranging in size the Knabstrupper typically stands between 15 and 16 hands, with solid strong legs and well shaped feet, a neat head and an elegant long neck, short backed and strong the Knabstrupper is a true warmblood horse. They are good movers but not extravagant, and are easy to ride. They jump well and are willing bold horses with good minds and a kind nature.

Their gaits are active, with clearly lifted hooves and a general impression of power and quality. Coat patterns range from solid to a full leopard-spotted coat, with many variants in between. RULES

  • Please read the rules carefully as failure to do so may result in an automatic disqualification when results are being reviewed.

  • You may only use foundation horses that YOU have purchased (under the player name you put in this form).

  • The horses must show a purchase date between the 1st and the 6th of June.

  • You may have up to 1 mare and 1 stallion entered.

  • The horses must be registered via the Google form below - the form will close automatically at 11:59 pm Game Time on June 6th.

  • All horses must be registered in the Knabstrupper Breed Registry and also have a name. IE not just BOTM or New Horse.

  • Best Dressed (THEMED!): Horses will be judged by staff for the best dressed. Judging includes tack and companion coordination and creativity. For this monthโ€™s theme, go wild with COLORS. You can do rainbow, all themed around a palette, whatever you may decide. Have fun, let it be chaotic or curated, whichever you prefer. Please have your entries dressed by Saturday June 20th to give staff adequate time for judging. If you have marked your entry to be submitted for Best Dressed and they are not dressed by the 20th, they will be submitted to the team as is.

  • Discipline Categories: If you mark that you ARE entering a discipline category, you MUST only show that horse within the selected discipline. If you have a mix of disciplines, halter, or career, your entry will be disqualified.

  • The competition will end on Tuesday (June 30th) 11:59 pm Game Time.

  • Due to show running times, it is recommended players enter the last of their shows on June 29th to give wiggle room for possible show running delays. If you enter shows on the 30th you accept risk of disqualification if any shows run after rollover into July 1st.

Registration is closed. Check back for BOTM in July!

The Summer Classic ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™

1st: 150k bits + 1 Gingerbread Tack Set of choice and 1 2022 Winter Tack Set

2nd: 100k bits + 10 Pumpkin Bundles and 10 Deep Blue Dye

3rd: 75k bits + 5 Blue Wisteria Canopy and 10 Sunburn Dye

OVERVIEW

Players will catch a wild Knabstrupper and once caught, transfer the horse to reddRookk in order to enter the competition. This is the only "fee" players have to pay. Once the corral is full of horses, reddRookk will mix things up and randomly assign a wild horse to a player via a raffle system.

When you have received your raffled Knabstrupper from reddRook, you can begin to train and level your new Knabstrupper in Flat Racing. At the end of the month a race will be simulated based on the horses' level, PS, stars, and post position (luck). The trainers of the top 3 horses receive a prize, and the original wranglers of those 3 horses will receive a small portion of purse money too!

DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS

Phase 1: Nab the Knabs! (Catching A Wild Knab)

From June 3rd to June 7th, players will need to capture one wild Knabstrupper and send it to reddRookk. Gender does not matter and will not affect the outcome of the race.

We will register, vet, and gene test your horses to avoid any barriers with cost. If you register or vet your Knabstrupper before sending to reddRookk, your fees will not be covered or refunded.

The corral can hold up to 20 horses, meaning only 20 players can compete in total. Any extra players/horses will be considered Also-Eligibles, and have a chance to compete if another horse is scratched from the race.

The Knabstrupper must be caught with a date of June 3rd 2026 to June 7th 2026 and be at least 2+ years old.

Once caught, horses must also remain untouched: no gelding/spaying, training, vet tests, exp gained and so on. These horses must be as wild and untouched as the moment you caught them!

Players can capture as many Knabs as theyโ€™d like, however they can only submit ONE entry. Purchasing a wild caught Knab from another player as your own entry is prohibited. YOU must be the wrangler of the horse you are entering.

If you keep your explore horses on an alternate account, this is acceptable if the transfer is shown from your alt account to the main. There is a place for you to note this on the Google Form to avoid confusion and/or potential disqualification. If it has not been noted on the entry form once registration has closed, you run the risk of disqualification.

If entries do hit the 20 horse mark and there are no scratches from the race, your horse will automatically be entered into our second category, Most Colorful Knab! This way your efforts are still recognized and players are able to participate in the roundup! Depending on entries, we may split this into a Stallion/Mare category. For now, it is an Open category for both genders.

WRANGLERS are responsible for registering their entry for the race as this is how they are opting to participate. If you are not registered and send a horse to reddRookk without registering, you run the risk of not being eligible for either The Summer Classic or Most Colorful Knab.

Registration is closed!

Phase 2: Receiving And Training Your Knabstrupper

Once registration has closed, you will receive a raffle ticket numbered 1-20. Post positions for the entered Knabstruppers will be drawn (randomly assigned) and the Knabstrupper will be sent to the corresponding player number. For example, if you receive Raffle Ticket #4, you will receive the Knabstrupper that drew the 4th post position.

Your Knabstrupper will come equipped with racing gear, including a saddle pad and polos to indicate their post position (based on real life saddle cloth colors and post position numbers).

Be sure to keep this tack on for the race! Otherwise your jockey will fall off. ๐Ÿ˜•

You may begin training your Knabstrupper in Flat Racing and showing them in Flat Racing shows as soon as you receive it! You may also name the horse as well!

Horses must be trained and shown in Flat Racing only, any exp gain through halter shows, careers, or exploring will result in being scratched (disqualified).

Horses must reach level 10 before June 28th or they will be scratched. This ensures trainers are training their horses and not just depending on luck to win!

Total PS, especially the top three stats for Flat Racing (Speed, Power, Endurance) and level will heavily factor into the horseโ€™s chance to win the race. Please see race day details for more about what will affect your horseโ€™s chances of winning the race. Please see Race Day details for more information on how stats and other factors will be considered when simulating the race.

FINAL PHASE: RACE DAY

Itโ€™s here! YOU MADE IT! The official Summer Classic will take place on June 28th and simulated based on weighted scores. If possible, there will be a visual demonstration of the race outcome so players can โ€œwatchโ€ their entries run!

Horses will receive a weighted score with favor given to performance stats totals, level, and breed standards (stars). Smaller factors that will influence the weighted score will be post position and personality.

Please note: As with real life racing, just because a horse has the โ€œbestโ€ weighted score and is most likely to win does not mean it will win. ;) Hence the weighted scores and factors.

After the race is completed and results are announced, players may do what they wish with their Knabstrupper. Itโ€™s heavily encouraged if you have no interest in keeping the horse to reach out to the person who wrangled the horse to see if theyโ€™d like to have the horse before selling, auctioning, retiring, or surrendering.

Didnโ€™t make it into the Summer Classic? Thatโ€™s okay - we have a category for your Knab anyway! All horses registered for the Summer Classic will be auto-entered into Most Colorful. IF your horse races in The Summer Classic AND there are more than 20 entries, entries that had to be waitlisted for the Summer Classic will take priority in Most Colorful.

This award will be for the prettiest wild caught Knab! And even more fun - this will take in PLAYER votes in consideration alongside judge votes! Pattern variations, dapples, somatics, etc, will all be favorable. The more color, the better!

Voting will take place from June 21 - June 24th alongside of July BOTM voting and be linked on this post. If possible, I will just combine the voting into the BOTM July Voting form for ease.

(Please note: Campaigning for votes will result in disqualification from all Breed of the Month categories.)

If you have any BOTM related questions, please post them below. Posting in Discord may result in your question not being seen, and overall, it is easier to keep everything here in one place not only for myself, but others who most likely have the same questions!

Thank you HoFa! <3

Clarification needed. โ€œYou may only use foundation horses that YOU have purchasedโ€ is purchased from another player within the required time frame allowed or MUST be bought oneself.
