Best ways to level up fast?

I have heard that it's best to breed your horses at level fifty and I'm wondering what the best ways to level horses up are? What gives exp and what doesn't? I have noticed my halter horses seem to level up faster than my exploring horses.
Halter gives the most EXP
discipline is not great for horses under 2000ish PS but over that it can be good if they place well.
Career is best for horses that have low PS and under 3 stars. it starts off slow, but they gradually go up tiers as they gain skills (which they get each time they finish a career) which makes them earn more levels.
so yeah, halter everything you can.
Explore is the worst for levelling.
