So I was trying to make another account to use alongside my current one and it said that I could not use the same email for another account. Do I have to use a different email?

In my experience, yes. I had to use a different email for my second account. Luckily switching between the two is easy without having to log in and out all the time. You just go to your account settings and link the other account, and then an arrow button will appear next to your name :)
Yes, when creating alt accounts, you need to use a separate email for each one. So three accounts is the max, so three emails is needed.
