Halter shows???

I'm new, and even after reading the wiki, I don't understand how to enter my horse into Halter shows. I vaguely understand that they need to be registered, I think. Thank you.
hiya, welcome to HoFa! yes horses need to be registered in order to halter show, but keep in mind they must be registered to either a registry (purebreeds), a game-owned club (official crossbreeds), or a campaign (currently unofficial crossbreeds). this means that grade horses and crossbreeds that do not fall under a campaign cannot halter show at all.
as an example, this horse of mine cannot halter show, because a 50% Shetland Pony/25% Appaloosa/25% Paint crossbreed does not currently exist in the game, nor is there a crossbreed campaign for that specific mix yet.
if your horse is registered, they will have stars on their page underneath their name. the stars are either yellow for purebreeds, purple for official crosses, or teal for unofficial crosses.
additionally, registering to a player-owned club will not allow you to halter show, it must be game-owned. you can still register a horse to both player clubs and a game-owned registry/club if you want to though! player-owned clubs will give horses grey stars if they're not registered to a game club/registry.
if you're still unable to halter show despite successfully registering a horse, try checking your horse's info by clicking the pencil/notebook icon on their page. go to the section called Working Paths and make sure that Halter has a check mark, then save by hitting the green checkmark at the top of the page.

Thank you! But what if the stars are grey or am I just looking at the wrong things?
Also, do horses need 100% energy to enter halter shows? Thank you.
If the stars are grey? They are considered a Grade and you cannot halter them at all.
No, they don't necessarily need 100% energy to be used for Halters. I've had my horses Trained and have 80% or less ((because of failed breeding attempts)) and I could still enter them into Halters or even Disciplines for that matter. I believe Halters take 20% energy and as long as they have A singular 20% energy? You could toss them into Halter shows.
as i said earlier, grey stars are when a horse is currently registered to a player-owned club but not an official one! it does not mean a horse is considered a grade, here's a purebred hanoverian with grey stars haha.

i registered her to the Round-Up Club which is a player-run club, so it gave her grey stars and she cannot halter show right now. but if i register her to the game-owned hanoverian registry, then her stars will turn yellow and she'll be able to halter show! c:
and yes, each halter show takes up 20% energy from your horse, so you need a minimum of 20% in order to enter one. having 100% energy just means your horse can enter 5 halter shows, which is the maximum a horse can enter in one day. you can halter from either the horse's page (click the trophy icon under their image) or the halter arena page.
