💞 Say hello to your February Breed of the Month, the Hanoverian! 💞

Hi HofA community! It was a close vote between the Hanoverian and Irish Draught, and the Hano ultimately came out on top! Thanks so much for voting - looking forward to March's BOTM! Enjoy this month's contest of showing Hanos some love and have FUN!

The Hanoverian is a warmblood breed from Lower Saxony, formerly Hanover, Germany. It all began at Celle in 1735, established with The State Stud. The Hanoverian Studbook officially began its work in 1888, paving a path for one of the most well-known sporty breeds we use today. Hanoverians were originally bred over 300 years ago to serve as military and carriage horses. With breeding programs and the introduction of different blood, this breed of horse has since become one of the most versatile performance horses. They have been bred specifically to be a mount that has correct build, natural impulsion, and elastic gaits, followed by a willingness and temperament that is suited as an all-around mount. These horses have been greatly successful in the Olympic rings due to their nature and build.

• You may only use foundation horses.

• The horses must be bought between  the 1st and the 3rd of February.

• You may have 1 mare and 1 stallion entered.

• The horses must be registered in this forum with their name hyperlinked to the horse.

• All horses must be registered in the Hanoverian Club AND the player must provide the total sum of breed value stats. 

• Horses will be judged by staff for the best dressed. Judging includes tack and companion coordination and creativity.

• Competition ends on the 27th of the month with totals calculated on the 28th. Winners will be updated in this post! 

• Tip: it’s recommended to freeze your horses after the 27th, as horses with shows or careers after the 27th will be disqualified.
