Twin Boost

So I can see some items offer a twin boost. Do I have to put the item on a mare for it to work, or will the boost still work if put on a stallion? Is there a limit to how long the boost is active, or will it keep working til the stallion is retired or the item removed?
All twin boost items work for both mares and stallions as long as it is equipped to them during the breeding. If the horse retired with the item on, it should return to your storage room.
