[INPUT] Merch Pricing

Curly [Admin || 642 posts] on 10/07/2025 10:46 am

Hello there! Today we are opening up this forum to discuss a few questions about merch pricing. Our goal is to price merch at an affordable price while also offering only the best quality for clothing, stickers, etc. The store is still in the works and we hope to have it open soon!

Excluding shipping, what is the price range you expect for:

1.  A high-quality soft 100% cotton t-shirt

2. A high-quality soft 100% cotton long sleeve shirt

3. A 3-inch vinyl waterproof sticker

4. A ceramic mug

5. A 100% cotton pull-over hoodie

1 $25-$35?

2 $35-$40?

3 $10-$15?

4 $15-$25?

5 $40-$50?

I looked up all items and did a little research, (im not sure how much you will be investing per item), but even me not having a job I think that the prices are reasonable. Of course it really depends on how much you are spending to make the items. I hope this helps a little.

Yup, agreed with the above. Maybe a little less on the stickers for me but not by much (maybe more of a 7-10 dollar range) but everything else matches what I would expect to pay when I buy merch in general.

I agree with all of Christina's prices except (respectfully) the sticker price - I buy a lot of custom stickers on Etsy and in person and many of the vinyl waterproof ones I've bought are in the $4-6 range (excluding shipping). Other than that, though, the rest of the prices seem very fair!

I think it's very hard for me to give suggestions as I deal in ยฃ ๐Ÿคฃ

Mugs would be something between ยฃ6-ยฃ10

Stickers: honestly depends on size. 3inches is quite big, so I would say ยฃ2-ยฃ4

It really depends on how much it costs making them. I appreciate it can be hard to make worthwhile profits on custom merch ๐Ÿซฃ

Honestly it's hard to say without seeing the merch, especially with the clothing options.

I generally buy high quality cotton fandom stuff from my local gaming store and while it's all the same price and quality, there's things that are an instant โ€œnoโ€, others I wouldn't buy unless on special, and ones I'd pay extra for. For example- I grabbed some Witcher shirts only on special bc they're printed on a white shirt- meaning it'll last maybe a few months, if that, before something ends up staining it. I wouldn't pay full price for something that won't last a year. The type of print matters too, the hard non-stretchy prints last maybe a few wears before the print starts to crack and it looks awful, I steer clear of them at all costs now, whereas my oldest fandom shirt is a Dr strange one with a soft print on dark material, and while the print itself is faded it still looks good after 4 years due to the way it was made. I would happily pay full price again or even double if it's gonna last me that long, I wish I'd grabbed more at the time.

I'd also pay more for a shirt or hoodie with a small logo design rather than a large print. HoFa isn't exactly well known so I'd prefer not to have to constantly answer strangers about where I got the shirt/hoodie etc. A small picture or logo means I'd have to already be close to someone for them to read it- so someone I'm already engaging with. I had this issue when I designed a few of my own prints once- I got so many questions in public about what they were from (it was just a generic mouse with โ€œWireless Mouseโ€ in fancy writing and a chicken head with โ€œI run on Chicken Powerโ€ underneath. I was approached by strangers way too often and I don't wear either in public anymore). If I'm buying anything that's not a well known fandom, I'd rather have it barely noticeable.
It'd be nice to have the stickers as a cheap option for a few bucks & the mug $10-15(AUD) with maybe a few colour options- so we can still support Hofa if the clothing doesn't quite meet people's needs.

I normally donโ€™t buy clothing online unless the design is very unique, but I do love stationary ! Iโ€™ve gotten several fandom vinyl stickers from redbubble for under $5CAD and Iโ€™ve gotten designs by a favourite local artist at markets for $5, all of which is just about $4 USD. I would also love sticker sheets which would have smaller stickers and could be themed (ie. light/stock/drafts etc)! I donโ€™t know if they would be cheaper to produce than large vinyl ones but they would be another great option in the under $10 section for me :)

agreed with much of what was said above!

for stickers and similar merch, i personally am willing to pay more if the sticker has unique artwork and not something โ€œpre-madeโ€. i am of course not saying that an artist needs to be hired to make merch exclusive designs or anything like that lol. but i just mean that i would consider breed art stickers to be pre-made art in a sense, which is why i agree with keeping the stickers a bit cheaper! i do consider waterproofing and size to be big factors in the price as well though.

very much agree with Mouse about small logos, all of the wearable merch i have keeps the logos small. as much as i'd say i'd be happy to be a walking ad for HoFa ๐Ÿคฃ i think it would be stressful for me to keep explaining it like how Mouse said haha.
