Can I encrust dyed tacks or dye encrusted tacks?

I want to dye my Amethys saddle from white to blue, but I can't. The encrusted tack doesn't show up in the dyeing item.
You can encrust tack that is already dyed, but you cannot dye tack that is already encrusted
