Looking for Advice on How to Handle a Growing Herd in Horse Fable!

Hello Everyone,

I’m relatively new to Horse Fable and have absolutely loved building my dream herd over the past few weeks. However, as my herd continues to grow, I’m starting to feel a little overwhelmed with all the tasks and management. I wanted to reach out to this amazing community to ask for your advice and tips on managing a larger herd more efficiently.

Right now, I’m balancing between breeding, training, and competing, but it feels like I might be spreading myself too thin. I’m especially struggling with:

  1. Daily Routines: How do you organize your time to ensure all horses get attention? Do you have a specific schedule or priority list you stick to?

  2. Breeding Strategies: I want to keep improving my herd without overcrowding. What are some tips for selecting which horses to breed or retire?

  3. Training and Competing: Is there a more effective way to balance training and entering competitions without burning through my resources?

Also, I’m curious to know how you all handle expansions as your herd size increases. Are there any tools, features, or strategies within the game that you find particularly helpful when managing a larger group of horses?

I’m really eager to keep improving my gameplay and avoid burnout, so any advice or personal experiences would be super helpful. I’d love to hear what works best for you!

Thanks in advance for your time and guidance.

Not getting too large of a herd is one of the primary ways of keeping yourself in-game.๐Ÿ˜…

But a head-count that starts getting too large can be a bigger problem than we realize. So here's a few of my tips that I use.

First, if any one tab (assuming you use tabs to organize by breed) that starts getting too many horses in it, sometimes I sit down and go through all the horses that can be bred (using levels) and I match them up with others in the same boat, even if the horses are still young and have a lot of years left to gain levels. I work on getting just one acceptable foal from the pair (I also breed for colors) and then I retire the pair of parents, thus getting one foal where there once was two horses. Using this technique, you can cut your tab in half.

Second, upgrade your work by aiming to purchase those employees from construction. Once done, you can use the Horses-->Manage and then the Care tab to take care of all your horses in a couple clicks, instead of caring for each horse individually. Don't know if you already have this, but it saves quite a bit of time.

Third, I await (usually) until 18 years to start breeding. But I limit the foals I get from the pair of parents to as little as I can with the colors I want to get from those parents. Sometimes I can get all the colors I want, on just one foal. This helps immensely to keep herd numbers down and allows for fresh blood to still come in. As soon as I get an appropriate foal, I retire the horses (or keep them for explore only until they go naturally).

Fourth, I do my best to not get taken-in by any newly released breed. I haven't always succeeded in this. ๐Ÿ˜… *eyes chincos and perchs* It's fun breeding new breeds, seeing the new artwork, and so on, but it just adds to the horses I have already.

Fifth, if I start a new project, I get rid of a previous one. I've done this only once because I like the projects I currently have. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Sixth. You can always freeze select tabs if you feel you don't have time. I would suggest selecting tabs that aren't making you money to freeze first and focus only on the tabs that are earning you monies. In this way, even if you're short on time, your account will still overall be profitable.

Seventh. For a basic account, the Training Manual 1 will allow you to access the community training where you can train all horses in a single (or a couple) clicks.

Eighth. For a basic account, the Enter All Manual 1 will make entering your horses easier as well. Although you'll still need to look at each horse individually. Also, it can make you lose sight of the horses individually a little. You'll want to rely more heavily on history and keep an eye on that.

Finally. Horse sales are good and all, but I don't think I could survive on them. Although wilds can go for quite a bit, they don't come through regularly enough to sell regularly enough for survival. The same could be said for the lined horses (those you've bred). Unless they have high TB, any lined horse should be considered much more heavily just to be retired if you don't want to keep it. My Iberians are popular enough when they go into auctions, but they very rarely sell for much. Although I hope they go to people that can really need them (and it seems they regularly do), this also comes with the disadvantage of selling for much less then they're actually worth. So, any auctions or sales, you'll either be keeping them for awhile until they're leveled a bit or considerations should be much heavier toward retirement instead. This will help significantly toward keeping a herd slim-lined.

I think that covers all of your questions. Good Luck!๐Ÿ˜Š

Please avoid this post for the time being. The player doesnt have any horses at all and the link looks spammy. I reported it to Roze, but thank you for providing information!
