Does gem type/tack type matter?

Okay, so I want to add bonuses to my horses via tack, great! BUT, I'm unsure if the type of tack/gem matters to what bonuses you get. Like, do gems/tack only offer bonuses to some disciplines? For example, ruby only offers bonuses to dressage shows or western saddles only offer bonuses to trail events.
I haven't seen a guide anywhere that specifically mentions if the bonuses are across the board or limited, and I don't want to waste gems crafting and equipping them poorly.
Does this makes sense? Sorry, just trying to really maximize my bonuses and stats for top notch horse performance ๐ช
All tack gives the same boost, a show boost. It doesn't add anything to any discipline or your PS, it adds a +x to your overall show score in each show your horse is entered in. The boost itself is unknown but we've been told how it works.
The only different boosts offered are with the special/seasonal tacks which offer varying twin boosts

Okay, that makes sense! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something, lol. And sorry if I sound dumb, but what IS a twin boost, I've been assuming it boosts both PS and show stats, but I want to make sure...
Thank you so much for explaining!
it means the horse is more likely to give twins when bred. nothing to do with showing or PS.
