Does relation matter when breeding?

Okay, I can't believe I'm asking this, please understand I'm not a weirdo! I just have a tough crossbreed campaign goal I'm trying to work towards! (The horses in question would be cousins 😬)

Anyways, does relation matter when breeding horses? Like siblings/half-siblings/cousins/niece/etc. I don't want to try and waste money trying it and I couldn't see anything about this in the breeding guide. Does the game allow related horses to breed or no? Does it allow related breeding but punish you with genetic consequences (like lowered BS and PS)? Is there a limit, like siblings are off the table but cousins are fine?

There's nothing to stop you and no consequences to inbreeding, no matter the relation of the horses involved.

Some players do prefer to avoid it (I'm one of them, mostly for the challenge) but many others don't care - I've seen it done most commonly when breeding for rare genes like manchado, but also just in general.

...Because, apparently, heaven forbid I do anything that's not complicated.

Oh perfect, thank you! I totally get, I'll probably avoid it similarly... but I guess I'll let cousins slide in this case, lol.
