I honestly just don't understand what the prices depend on? Like what makes a horse cheap or expensive? Thx ☺️

Hi!

It honestly depends on what each individual player prefers as to what they're willing to pay for a horse. Generally though, players would mostly be looking for all good/excellent breed standards (so the bars above the horse would be all green) and either high performance stats or a high training boost (or preferably both).

There are also a number of other things different players may or may not consider, such as:

  • The number of offspring the horse has had, especially if the breed is limited to 5 offspring;
  • How far back the horse's family tree goes;
  • Whether there is inbreeding in the horse's family tree;
  • The age of the horse;
  • The coat colour / genetics (horses that carry certain genes may be worth more, even if they don't show;
  • If the horse is a crossbreed / grade;
  • What discipline the horse is trained in and what show tier it has reached;
  • What halter rank the horse has reached;
  • Past show / halter / career performance...

I don't know too much about pricing horses, but you might struggle to sell both Turquoise and Gravy. Gravy doesn't have the best breed standards but he is a decent level, rarer coat colour (skewed roan) and had good performance stats.

Being a grade horse, Turquoise can't be halter shown which can make leveling up a bit slower (particularly as foals can only be halter shown). Once foal trained, the training boost would only be 5, so this is a lot lower than the recommended minimum of 10. Even though he's a little cutie and has genes that aren't normally in thoroughbreds, I'm not sure how many people would be looking for a varnish roan (unless they could use it for their own grade projects). At the moment I'd guess he possibly isn't worth very much at all, maybe less than $1,000? Other players may have a different opinion.

Yay, congratulations!!

If she shows tigers eye, you'll be able to see it listed on the genetics tab (right down the bottom, under white markings):
