In Game Art

This is just for fun and discussion, no hate to the current art :) lmk if there's another breed's art you'd like to see reposed!

I always thought that the brumby and mustang's art were awkward because a horse can't do those movements IRL, lol. So I edited the brumby to be doing an actual gallop stride, and the mustang to be doing a levade instead of a slouch. What do you guys think? Did you ever think their art was awkward? Do you like their old poses anyway?

Left side is game art, right side is edited

I like your takes, they are less awkward looking although I would prefer more of a rearing option for Mustangs they still look better than they used to. There are a few other breeds I personally dont ever have because to me they just look so awkward in their art

I like both of those! While I do like the brumbies, the legs are a bit all over the place for a pose I think. However the edit is a bit stiff too, so I'd think something in between 🤔

I very much like the mustang edit. Something about their shape sort of bothers me but the edit makes it a bit more fun.

The only game art I really super dislike is the Light cross art, which stinks because so many crosses I want to participate in result in it. Least favorite purebred arts for me would be Thoroughbred and Welsh(B). Not sure why the Bs are off but they are to me.

HOWEVER I very much love Hofa art, probably 75% of the draw to this game! Very much appreciated the devs and arts of past and present.❣️ Excited for upcoming art as well.

Anyway, I like this topic idea. I think it's neat that you made some edits and fun to think about.

I agree on the light crossbreed and welsh b. The light cross just looks sooo disproportionate.

Another I am not of fan of and would love to see a remake of is the Azteca. I know its a sliding stop but its so folder under itself and beefed up awkwardly at the same time.

I am still curious about that silhouette assuming TB a few years back and wonder what ever happened with that.

Akhal-Teke's are ones I just do not like.

(Horse is a radom search that came up)

And I don't like Welsh pony (type C) either.

i think the front legs on welsh b look too short? or it's something with the chest.. the pose is also another "in between" kind which might cause the proportions to look more off than they really are?

i think welsh c looks okay but there's a huge bump in the mane that doesn't line up with their neck and it bugs me lol.

kind of don't want the TB art to change admittedly 😅 something about the eyes is really nice

I agree with the slightly off Welsh B and C- something weird with the leg lengths. I think heavier use of references would be useful for all of the game art overall. For most of them I can find a weird leg position/neck angle/etc that horses just don't do IRL-- or if they do, it is not the "photo op" moment, and is instead an awkward moment. The Akhal Teke is long backed but they often are IRL anyway 😂

I enjoy my TBs as well. If that art was for TBs it looked kind of ponyish

We are currently working on breed artist search and should have that all wrapped up very soon. It has been a very long and slow process of finding, demoing, and ensuring the art works for the in-game style. Ya'll have waited a very long time for that so we have been trying to wrap it up ASAP. That said, knowing about thoughts on pose changes is very helpful. If any other ideas or refs come in for the breeds mentioned here I can keep that feedback compiled and as we do redos, we can incorporate it all. Of course, when we do breed re-dos, we will be seeking community thoughts on changes like pose, mane/tail style etc. at that point as well.

I absolutely love the current Arab pose, please don't change it!!! I wouldn't mind a change to the Light crossbreed art but in my opinion crossbreed campaigns should be top priority. Again, not trying to tell anyone what to do, just suggestions!
