I dont even bother trying unless they are yellow or green. Any angry orange or red ones just arent worth wasting my resources. It may work, but unlikely not. Even still, sometimes it takes too many resources 

i don't know, maybe i just have a different technique but i don't think i've had that much trouble with wilds. i don't use treats on them as much, only when i really want to make sure i catch the horse. otherwise it's petting or whistling/lassos, depending on the breed and temperament level.
