Question about the bank

I swear I've scoured the wiki at least ten times, and yet I still have no idea what the bank does. Does having money in the bank allow you to have a record of your transactions/estate spending? Do you have a record of that stuff regardless of whether or not your money is in the bank? I'm so confused!
you can see your transactions regardless of whether money is stored there, keeping money in the bank gives you interest every sunday based on the amount you have deposited

Taken directly from the wiki "Macon works on all bank transactions and also keeps a record of any deposits or spending. To save space, Macon gets rid of any transactions older than 30 days."
There is also a button right on the bank page that says view transactions.
