Newbie questions!

Hello! I actually was an Eqcetera user back in the day, stalked the game while it was being redeveloped, and now after originally joining in 2019 I'm back again as I noticed my favorite breed was added! :) The game has changed immensely for the better it seems, but I am a little behind the loop so I just had a couple of questions.

  • I'm focused on Warlanders (and thus Friesians and Andys), but I'd like to know what would consider these breeds marketable when selling them. I'm focused on good BS for now with splashes of color eventually, but what really makes them sell and do well being put up for stud/brood?
  • I got a foundie Friesian that has the white spots (birdcatcher?), how rare is this?
  • What colors in each respective breed seems to market the best?
  • What is considered a decent PS?
  • Ive started investing a group of my horses into the model career. What else could garner a good chunk of money?
  • Catching wild horses hasn't worked out for me yet. Is there a trick to it? I've read the wiki and still don't havce much luck, they always run away before I can get anything past 30% bonding! I also can't seem to find where to buy lassos!
  • I've never gotten anything from the scrapyard, is it just really rare?
  • I think I've already experienced an issue with this, but how is art theft handled on this site? Not super up-in arms about it but just wanted to know for future reasons!

I think that's it for now. Thanks in advance for any help! :) Glad to be back in the game!

Hi!

1. You might want to focus on good PS (performance stats) in my opinion. Show horses earn twice as much as halter horses and more people want to buy/breed high PS horses at least in my opinion.

2. Any colored Friesian (not black) is considered rare, but I'm not sure because I'm an Arab/Paint breeder.

3. Um... no idea

4. Decent showing PS is like 2000+ probably, like national tier and on. The wiki has tons of info on choosing the right discipline for each horse so look at that definitely.

5. Definitely showing. I can breed you a good show foal to get you started for a small fee.

6. Crafted treats, lassos, and whistles have really helped me catch horses! I have som in my Crystal Mountain General Store forum if you want.

7. Yes, scrapyard finds are very rare. I have better luck in Hoofbeat Plains by far.

8. I have no idea about art thefts.

Hope this helps!

just a girl who loves horses...

    1. Levels!!! You want really high levels and then work on that PS too. If you want to max out your levels make sure you are halter showing your foals and personally (if money isn’t an issue) you’ll want to halter shows 3* and above. 1-2 star horses can do better in careers in the long run then in halters. You'll want to keep a balance with this though because you can loose money in halter shows in the beginning so it's not always recommended for new players to do them - But they're the best for foundation / starter horses.

2. I got a foundie Friesian that has the white spots (birdcatcher?), how rare is this?

    1. Bird catcher is fairly rare in all horses as a marking. It can be passed onto foals.

3. What colors in each respective breed seems to market the best?

    1. I think any variations will go pretty well in the market across anybreed. Other than that anything that’s considered rare or is usually a recessive gene. So things like flaxen and Manchado.

  1. What is considered a decent PS?
    1. I feel like anything 500-1000 range is decent but what really matters the most is the show level of horses. Higher show level gets you a higher training boost in foals which means your foals will be able to get more PS during their lifetime. Discipline shows are better for horse levels when you get into Tier 2. I will often watch some of my star horses though and switch them back and forth from halter and disc. When they're at the high end of a disc level they can rake in a lot of points, but then if you train them and they hit a low end of the next disc level, then they'll start loosing a lot so then I'll go back to doing halters.

  1. Ive started investing a group of my horses into the model career. What else could garner a good chunk of money?
    1. Explore! Possibly mines. Selling any seasonal dyes and treat items will get you some good profits. There’s some of the basic dyes that sell better than others too. Mines can garner you some money. Some of the older gems only sell for about 1k but some of the newer ones (Amethyst, Citrine, Onyx, Rose Quartz) might get you more. I know I’ll pay up to 25k for Amethyst. But they can be pretty tough to acquire/find so I’ll only do this if I need to use up my energy quick and don’t have time to grind for more desired explore items.

  1. Catching wild horses hasn't worked out for me yet. Is there a trick to it? I've read the wiki and still don't have much luck, they always run away before I can get anything past 30% bonding! I also can't seem to find where to buy lassos!
    1. Wild horses are a bit of a mystery to everyone. I have the best luck with sweet treats but there is a “method” that no one has figured out 100%. I’ve found that some breeds like things better than others. I typically only try to catch rare breeds (Chincos/mari/tekes) or breeds with variation besides the main breeds that I breed. Variation wilds can go pretty high depending on the breed. I would really suggest joining the Discord as then you can kinda keep an eye on prices and there’s even a price check channel in there. You can also post advertisements and get a little more views on it.

  1. I've never gotten anything from the scrapyard, is it just really rare?
    1. The scrap yard is only a pool of things that players have discarded themselves and after awhile those items are deleted. I feel that my energy is better used for explore or the mine.

8. I think I've already experienced an issue with this, but how is art theft handled on this site? Not super up-in arms about it but just wanted to know for future reasons!

    1. Art theft isn’t tolerated on site. All images must be credited properly on image and come from stock resources. We require credit even if the resource does not so that we can trace back any origins of art. If you suspect someone of art theft, please report it privately to a moderator or admin.
