You can do everything right and there's still a chance of them running away. The lower the bar on the left is, and the more green, the tamer/easier they are to catch :) But it's still pretty difficult and I loose more than I catch.

It took me ages to get used of the mechanics when it comes to catching wild horses. I can offer some tips that have helped me, though:

- Whistles generally work on tamer horses (the background on the profile picture should be orange, yellow or green)
- If the background is red, the chances of you catching it without treats of some kind are very low. If I don't have treats, then I use lassos and hope for the best!
- Petting can work, but it does take 10 energy per pet, so I'd wait until you've either got a fairly tame horse or one that you absolutely love.
- The better the food, the more effective it is. Collecting molasses to pair with the cookie type treats will give you a huge advantage.
- Recently, treats have become easier to come across. If you're running low on them, though, definitely save them for horses that you really want.
- Some horses are very quick to run away. It's pretty much luck of the draw in terms of how many shots you get, so don't feel like you're doing anything wrong if your horses keep running.
