Walkaloosa Art!

Congrats everyone on creating a new corssbreed! I am here to start the process of creating the Walkaloosa breed.
To start the process, I will be working with you all in this forum to get specifics about what you want in your breed. Our workflow will look like:
- Campaign contributors and club members post reference images. Reference images can be to pick a pose, mane/tail type, conformation-specifics etc. When you post a photo let me know what you like the most in the photo. NOTE: Poses, conformation etc. have some limitations such as no rearing poses and requests must be true to life and make sense for the breeds cross %. Ex. We won't do a pony-sized base for a Clydesdale x Perch cross, that would be quite odd.
- After submitting ref photo submissions, I will look through and make a master list of everything that was suggested and post it here for review. At this time, you all can chat about what you want to see specifically. Ex. Morgans have a bridle path because that was a highly requested option and Irish Cobs have tons of hair because people valued that the most. NOTE: Should there be any aspect that isn't fully agreed upon I will present the best options based on my (or other artists) ability with input from the club president.
- Using the final list of requirements, I (or another artist) will begin the greyscale process and post the first draft of the greyscale here. With this, feel free to be a bit picky, add suggestions, and the club may also make large changes if all are agreeable (Ex. Turns out you all don't like the breed with a bobbed tail, you can change it to long etc.)
- Based on feedback, a second draft will be posted for confirmation that everyone likes the base. At this time, no major changes can occur but small or minor changes can occur.
- Once the second draft is approved I will move into the coloring phase. Here, I will open it up for you all to send reference pictures of the needed white markings (Sabino, tobiano, overo, etc.) and I will incorporate those as I can.
- Once all the coloring is done, Bedouin and I will work on the back end to make the breed a reality. This involves a bit of code and inputting.
- Bask in the glory of completing a crossbreed campaign and ogle at those beautiful ponies.
So, for now, post below reference images and details about what you would like to see in the Walkaloosa breed!
I sketched this as an idea for a pose. I like the idea of a flashy pose showing that they are gaited. ^^
I like this pose! Support flashy gaited and I like the mane movement you have going. I like the idea of a slight tail lift. I will try to find time to find references pics and think about it.
I like the pose in that sketch as well! The slight tail lift seems to be a Walkaloosa thing? This stallion is super cute and in his gaited pictures he does have the tail lift like the sketch: https://www.dreamhorse.com/ad/2193881.html
and another one: https://www.globetrotting.com.au/horse-breed-walkaloosa/
@reddrookk, mind if I use your sketch as the starting ref? I'll start there and adjust as more refs come in.
I think the tail set for that sketch is perfect. I like the neck carriage of this guy: https://www.deviantart.com/mountainviewstock/art/Stanley-39-802151927
@Curly of course! Use it however you'd like
I really love this boy from Cloud9 Walkers. Love the tail carriage and the movement ^^
Hello hello! We have a first draft done! I have incorporated the first sketch and added more movement to the front. Also tried to add in the higher head/neck. Thoughts? Adjustments?
The front end looks very... Strange? The front left leg looks really disproportionate and wonky.
I really like the head! Can we maybe have more forelock and mane? ๐

Yes I love it!!!! I agree with more mane and forelock!
As for the legs, I think they look backwards if that makes sense? Gonna do my best to explain what I mean. So, currently the lifted front leg is "in front" (as in closest to the viewer). I think leg touching the ground should be "in front", and the lifted leg should be behind it. (and then the back legs should be switched too). I really hope this makes sense but am not sure if it does ๐
