Wild horse tag?

I recently finished training my purebred Frisian that I caught from the wild and want to do halters with him. However the game says I can't unless I register him and I'm confused on what they mean by that, the wiki doesn't seem to help. Thank you in advance!
Wild horses are considered purebred, and purebred horses can be registered in their respective breed registeries. You can access the list of purebred registeries by going to Town > Breed Registeries.
