Gene Question - Leopard?

How does the leopard gene work? I'm looking to breed horses with the leopard pattern, and so I'm wondering if the Leopard gene being present in a horse means they can produce a leopard patterned foal, or if they sometimes can only produce a Varnish roan, or blanket appaloosa, etc.

Lplp or LpLp with Patn1patn1 is what you want for Leopard.

Lplp or LpLp with no patn1 or patn2 will always be a Varnish Roan

Lplp with Pant1patn1 is Leopard

Lplp with Patn1Patn1 is Leopard

LpLp with Patn1patn1 is Fewspots

LpLp with Patn1Patn1 Fewspots

Lplp with Patn2patn2 is Varnish Blanket

Lplp with Patn2Patn2 is Varnish Blanket

LpLp with Patn2patn2 is Snowcap

LpLp with Patn2Patn2 is Snowcap

Missing a few combos :)

Lplp with Patn1patn1 and Patn2patn2 is Blanket

Lplp with Patn1Patn1 and Patn2Patn2 is Blanket

LpLp with Patn1patn1 and Patn2patn2 is Fewspots

LpLp with Patn1Patn1 and Patn2Patn2 is Fewspots

This complexity is why I enjoy breeding Appies so much! :D
