What is Variation 2?

Hi, I'm still fairly new to this game, and I just bred a Norweigan Fjord foal. He happens to have a pattern called "Variation 2", which I don't think came from any horses in his family tree. What exactly is it, and is it rare? I'll leave a link to him below.

That is a somatic mutation! They happen just randomly. :)
