Alright. Lets be nice.
Lets talk about the Pros and Cons of Explore 2.0.
What do you like? What do you dislike? Small tweaks?
Pro: Something fun to do.
Great way to get random items
Con: Cool down for looking at a wild horse
Time consuming for people on tight schedules
Ideas: ?
Hmmm let's see
pros: the update brings an injury system
you can explore the world with your horse
cons: the amount of time the cool down takes till you can catch another wild horse after you've already tried
the horse and rider are blacked out
After healing injured horse at the vet it's health goes back up to 100
ideas: lower the wild horse cool down to 10 minutes
have a timer that shows how long till you can catch another wild horse
The horse and rider not blacked out, maybe custom rider avatar? Show the horse you're currently riding?
For minor injuries to only take 5% of health away instead of 100% and maybe stay at like 95% till the next day if the horse was healed and taken care of.
Edit for new ideas
wild horses and items show up on the map, as currently theirs a cooldown for just looking at a wild horse which I don't personally like and you never know when ones gonna pop up so if the wild horses show up on the map you could see if that's the horse you want and head towards it

I haven't played for more than a few days, but I've experienced both exploring versions.
Pros: Fun and a nice way to emotionally bond to a horse. Maybe pets will play a role in explore? I noticed I pick up dyes more.
Cons: the injury seems like too much, especially for me as I'm new. The cooldown to even try to catch another wild horse is limiting.
Ideas: I liked BlazeQuakes ideas alot! I do wish it didn't take so much energy, as I have very few horses (or maybe add some energy regen to the horses?) I do wish there was some sort of way to give more energy to my horses.
Pros: I noticed I found a lot more items in explore. (Could be a slight con since it might drop item prices idk)
Fairly easy to move round and see new things. It's a cool little mini game to blow some time on
I actually don't mind the injury idea. Especially if eventually it will appear visually on the horse art.
Cons: Using horse energy for no gain other than finding items. Levels for my horses are important. (This could also be a pro as it might make less desirable horses worth more as people will use them to explore)
Energy on a horse runs out very quickly. Long before player energy. So you'd need a few horses to solely explore.
I personally don't think I'll explore much as it doesn't interest me. I'm not sure if it's a plan but I wouldn't mind a story line or something to play through in explore (Guessing maybe this is where quests will come in). Exploring for the sake of exploring doesn't interest me.
I don't capture wild horses myself but I agree a timer to say how long till the next capture attempt would be good.
Pros: Love the idea of being able to explore around and find stuff. Love how its a little more common to find stuff too. Gives an awesome new way to play around on the game in a mini game way.
Cons: Horse energy runs out rather quickly. Injury rate seems a little wacky but that may just be my luck. Wild horses seem more difficult to catch, I have been trying to catch them and they are almost touchier and much harder to catch. The cool down for wild horses is a little much too especially if you just look at them.
Ideas: energy regen for owned horses would be awesome, would make it easier for people to enjoy explore and compete as they wish without just doing one or the other especially with that being thr main form of income for lots of people on here.
I mentioned the wild horse rate it may just need a coding fix just to check nothing got a little wacky.
The timer for looking would probably be best reduced and a little ticker that shows up somewhere pretty visible.
Horses probably wont look like the horse you are riding. Maybe a flat color at best but there is soooo many color combinations its unlikely.
I do feel like 100% health for a small injury is a lot. They plan to add more so I think it should adjust accordingly. But healing is also extremely cheap so not a big deal to me either way. I just want the button to heal them all to work correctly as of now it gives me errors. The rate does seem high though. I had one horse get injured 3 times.
I dont like the wild horse cooldown either. I dont even know how long it is. It wasnt a thing before and seems unecessary. You might end up missing out on ones you really want. 2% energy per move isnt bad in my opinion either, you can get a lot of moves in.
I am also okay with items spawning a lot and prices for selling dropping them. These days I avoid the marketplace as everything is selling waaaaay too overpriced as it is.
I hate using explore on mobile though. It doesnt fit the screen and I often have to scroll too much as I move around. Its also laggy for me.
I disagree with energy regen as that can be abused with other things as well. Choose specific, lower quality non competitive horses to use for explore only. Buy up some cheap ones, rescue them, use wilds you do catch, etc.
Overall I like it how it is for the most part with a few changes. I look forward to see it expand to different maps and adding NPCs and quests.
Hi, I started playing this game 2 weeks ago and I love the new update so far! i really like the idea of only beeing able to find wild horses literally in the wild. Maybe as a little Idea for the con mentioned by Azhure, that the horses loose energy and someone might want to level up their horses and get them to competitions, maybe you could not just find items at random but could also ever so often increase some of the training stats super randomly (not just the ones needed for the dicipline choosen for your horse) so that might be another fun little treat for exploring the wild.
Maybe it could be something like: " You have spend a long time in the saddle, your horse gains +1 in endurance"
or "You saw a beautiful log in front of you and decided to jump it, your horse gains +1 in agility"
or " You had to cross a raging river, your horse gains +1 in Intelligence and +1 in Power"
it should be less than what you could get due to training but maybe it's still super fun in that way and more diverse texts would come up than only 'There is nothing to be seen here...'
What do you guys think?
Oooo thats a fun idea! I like the random like options to earn some minor skill increases
Pros: I find it a whole heck of a lot better than doing random exploring through the game and players' numerous horses in hopes of finding something. I prefer it more on mobile than anything else but that's just me.
Cons: The wild horse timer.
If I am remembering correctly, during the stream someone had asked about the blacked out horse and rider avatar. I believe this is more or less a placeholder and could possibly change in the future but to change it where it shows a pixel version of the horse you are riding? That miiiight be too much for the game overall itself. That's a lot of colors to use, especially when you get down to the paints, tobianos, overos, etc etc. Maybe a base line of riding a light chestnut horse? Maybe it could be light chestnut instead of just black.
I really do NOT think we should have energy regen at all whatsoever. I feel like that can be abused. I have some horses that are getting to be 15 years of age and older, some Wild, some are not, but yet, they are still around Local/State levels in showing. I actually decided to stop showing them and shuffle them off to Exploring Only pathing. Then I have at least two foundation thorougbreds back from when I went on a mini buying spree in hopes they would have Ma gene ((they did not)) but these two, one has a heart marking and the other one has lace. I decided to keep them, simply for breeding purposes and inject those two markings into future lines. I tend to forget a lot to put my horses into Careers path, so, I simply stopped doing it and just either froze some horses or just kept them off to the side for breeding purposes and now I use those two foundie TBs and use them for Exploring Only; I even went out and adopted 6 horses and shuffled them off to Exploring Only path. You will definitely get some horses that are not good at competitions and can put them into careers or use for exploring.
Those horses losing 2% energy per movement is perfectly fine and does NOT need adjusted. You as a player need to figure out if your horses are actually doing good performing in disciplines and making money as sometimes they may perform terribly in disciplines but may do a whole heck of a lot better in careers instead and I definitely know I have had and currently have horses like this. There are plenty of horses that are in sales that can probably be used for Exploring Only and there are some horses in rescue as well that can be used for Exploring Only while keeping your better horses for disciplines only.
I really enjoy the new Explore system overall. The energy system works perfectly well - like some other players were saying, it is a good way to use bad horses, and there are lots of them around! Instead of selling them for cheap or sending them to the rescue, now we can find them a purpose in our own stables.
Pro:
* It's fun! I like the mini-game of moving around and randomly encountering objects or horses. I hope quests and storylines will be incorporated at some point to make it even more fun.
* Lots of objects. I wouldn't say more than before, but now that the objects are also back on random pages, I'm quite happy with this system - I will still get my dyes if I don't have the time to play the mini-game that day.
Cons:
* Like most players have mentioned - the timer for wild horses! It would make sense to keep it when we actually catch them, but not when the thing runs away (usually after eating a treat or two - they're not going to starve!). So, please, remove it when the horse runs away!
* The rate for injuries is way too high. I like the idea, but I would say the probability needs to be revised - I have had the same horse injured three times in one exploring session, this is too much.
* No experience for exploring - experience is central in the game, with even the careers giving experience, and I think that rewarding the horses we use for exploring with a tiny bit of experience would be nice. It could even be just 10 points per movement, but it would feel like our horses are getting something in return.
