Crossbreeds and competing

So, I know that doing shows is the only way to level up horses. However all my crossbreeds (registered iraloosas) minus one (it was able to be a Gen 1 and can compete) are unable to compete even though they are registered with the club. Is there a way to get them into shows and compete before they are two? Or do I have to wait? I'd love to be able and get started on their levels so they are higher for breeding when they age up
I think they need to not only be approved in the club, but also registered in a campaign generation, in order to be able to compete as foals.
