Freezing Ability to Breed While Horse Is In Auction

So, I'm normally a player who is more withdrawn from the community due to my incredible social anxiety...but I came across a problem recently...and I don't want this to happen to others.

Basically...I was bidding at Auction for a lovely Marwari (my current favorite breed).  I look carefully at several things before I bid usually, especially with Marwari, because of various aspects of the game...in this case, I was looking to see how many offspring the horse had (as a rare breed, Marwari can only have so many offspring) and though my memory fails me often (I have memory issues)...I'm pretty certain that the horse had no offspring at the time of first bidding...I did eventually win the auction, and didn't see right away what had happened, as I'm in the middle of organizing my stables and working on creating foundation horses for crossbreed campaigns.  I decided that today I was going to make a concerted effort to get all transport horses into my stable or boarded, and that's when I noticed that the Marwari I bought had been bred to a horse a day before the auction ended...

I don't really normally have an issue in rescuing or buying a horse that has been bred, due to the fact that you can usually see before you commit to buying that this is the current status of the horse...but with auctions it's different...you place a bid and wait...and the status of the horse can change during that time after you bid.  You can't retract bids if you notice something off.  With horses with breeding limitations like Marwari, this can significant change your initial choice to bid on said horse.  If the breeding had occurred before the auction, I wouldn't have minded waiting for the cool down...but literally the day before the horse is won?  Frankly....feels....real bad...

I propose a safety measure, specific to auctions, that freeze the horse temporarily while in auction, so that they can't be bred, shown, etc during this time. This will ensure that the horse you see is the horse you get when it comes to auctions.

Thank you for your consideration and potential comments!

The positive option on this, is that, if horse's are automatically frozen the moment they go into auction, is that people will be more willing to bid on them, thus increasing potential of sales and also increasing potential of higher prices.

This really would be a positive change all-around.

Although... if this were implemented, I wouldn't be able to use the wilds in explore anymore while their auction is ongoing! 😅

Well, that's a little loss I'm willing to take, especially to ensure that the horse I'm looking at, remains as is until the end. That said, I'd really like this to be implemented after the ability to cancel auctions comes to us (auction cancel only if NO bids have been made). Assuming that it will.

Support! Although I would like to see a breeding freeze only. Like an message that says "Oops! Horse is in an auction and can not be bred". I like to continue showing horses while they are in auction so their value continues to increase.

@MissMouse I hope you realize that if they bred before the auction you'd have to wait- if it was just for those that need a level then I'd be fine with it, but no to anything else-

@Oaken fields nobody here realizes: if they are bred straight before auction... then it'll take more days of waiting then before. I feel you should just be given one free breeding after you got the horse in cooldown.

You have to wait either way whats the difference? At least a last breeding spot cant be taken while the horse is in auction.

The problem of waiting for the breeding cooldown only really becomes an issue for horses with limited breeding (and pulling) spots, for rare breeds *cough, cough* Tekeis and Chincos.

OR, for when the horse is nearing 21 years *cough, cough* ability to die.

Freezing a horse can be handy to prevent both of these issues. So, yes, I still agree with the option.

Besides, the entire complaint isn't about what the horse looks like at the time the auction is created, but while the auction is in progress, that the horse can change. We hesitate on some horses, because they can be changed during auction. If that were to be paused, then more people might bid and the auction price might increase.

If a person know that the horse will not change while in auction, then we know that, especially for rare breeds and old horses, we can take a much greater risk on our end. A frozen horse that was bred just before auction, we go into that bid knowing the horse will need to go through cooldown. But an unfrozen horse that is bred during auction changes the overall for that horse.

That's the clincher for some of us. Waiting for the cooldown isn't really an issue, it's the breeding that is. The freezing aspect is first-forward, because it's already available to us and may theoretically be easier to implement then other points.

There is some more to this that some of us look for, but overall, those are the two biggest issues that I see and that really is the crux of this argument.

i agree that the issue isn't a horse being bred before an auction but during the auction. it's changing the state of the horse to something that wasn't originally listed, like if you gelded/spayed horses after putting them for auction. though if we could continue doing other things like shows, training, and exploring that would be nice.

I still think that only mawari and limited breeding horses should be frozen. I'm fine with taking the risk of bidding for horses that arnt frozen.
