Unfortunately, there is no guide. There is no one or right way to do it and it always going to vary by horse. You can find treats, lassos, and whistles to help catch them while exploring or buying them in the marketplace. There was also a forum post with people sharing how they caught some but as you can see from the comments, there isn't a consistency to it. Some horses are easier than others.
