Changes to bidding

Bidding right now, someone can offer $1 more to a horse. If you've logged off and don't see it you can loose the bid even if you were willing to pay more.
I'd suggest an update like a minimum bid increase. ex. you must bid $100 or 1K more to the bid before you.
Or: something like Ebay audobid, where you can implement how much you're willling to pay for the horse and it will autobid for you up to that amount if someone bids against you.
Had another idea that might work instead:
After adding a bid (whatever the amount) The time in auction could automatically make sure the auction won't expire for another 12 hours. This would allow the other bidders time to log in and decide if they want to increase their bids.
Thoughts?
Autofreezing horses that are up for auction is a very good idea.
I agree, love the idea of autofreezing horses placed in an auction.
I also agree with the autofreezing for auctions. This feature has been implemented in another game I know of and it helps make sure horses are in the same condition as the buyers have bid for.
This prevents issues like bidding on a horse that has then been gelded/sterilised without the bidder(s) knowing during the auction - which could be a costly mistake. Or, bred with and the other reasons @Rhea has mentioned.
Right now, it appears that linked accounts can bid on a horse to artificially raise the amount. Or maybe I'm wrong? I didn't try myself, but I watched it happen.
I'd certainly like that ability nixed. It's not fair to be able to do that. If a person wanted more for the horse, that's what the Reserve is for. And if the minimal bid isn't enough for their tastes, then they should've applied a price they were more comfortable with.
Artifically raising the amount because the owner doesn't like the bidding, is really unfair. As is (in the case what I saw isn't about linked accounts) purchasing a horse 'for a friend' for the same reason, not liking the price the auction has. And then transferring the horse for free back to the owner's account.
If they had regrets about what they put a horse up for, they should've taken it down and reapplied it.
I don't know if something can be done about such cases and technically speaking, it can still be a fair trade [in certain instances] but bidding on your own horse that you have currently in auction to purchase it back, is not fair trade, when you just don't like the price.
I wouldn't have a problem with it, if all proceeds went elsewhere. ๐ Like a charity auction.
I've decided to add this to this forum, because although it may not have been a suggestion in the original post, it is still a change to bidding and should be considered, or at least debated upon.
... But perhaps this is more of a vent then it is a suggestion... I'm not sure. ๐ค
support, but add less time. More like 30 min to an hr-
@rhea you realize that people can breed horses before the auction and if they freeze them before hand you'd have to wait the full 7 (or 2 if male) days before breeding. So it wouldn't even matter, and would most likely make it more unlikely to be able to breed after anyway.
@blackOak you can't take down auctions-
@Rosettesidk
I know we can't. And my posting in this topic is almost a year old.
When I wrote out my last response, it was as much a vent as it was knowing we lacked the ability to take them down (hopeful QOL addition). The incident I was speaking about, I was bidding fairly and then in the last couple minutes, it was bidded upon and then almost instantly transferred back to the original account that had it up.
We really should be able to cancel an auction, as long as nobody has placed a bid.
